A great space in Berkeley’s famed “Gourmet Ghetto” caught the eye of an enterprising  duo of visionary businessmen. The design of the space was created to be welcoming to students and families alike. Fitting all the necessary appliances into a tight space as well as complying with the Berkeley Health Department proved to be a fun exercise. Eric Lindgren had a strong vision of opening a neighborhood cafe with a retro feel on the ground floor of a historic Berkeley apartment building. The ground floor retail space with access to a rear yard offered opportunities. We exposed an existing brick wall, added a full commercial kitchen into the small retail space for the preparation of scrumptious homemade pastries and goods.
