Oakland Hills Remodel

This special house nestled in a grove of mature oak trees seems removed from the city. Except for the front door and a kitchen side access, the house had no connection to the gorgeous site it inhabits. Over a decade, the owner and I joyfully transformed it. The first phase saw a replacement of all single paned aluminum windows with large dual glazed wood windows and French doors throughout, as well as the building of a rear deck to anchor the house to its site. All rooms thus now lead to the exterior. New steps lead one from the deck to the detached garage which offers major access to the house situated at the top of a hill. Subsequently, the kitchen was entirely rebuilt, and a new glass awning was placed over the rear kitchen doors for protection.
